Great article. I've worked for a lot of companies from Systems Engineering domains (automotive, medical devices etc.) There, thinking in sequential phases is even more prevalent than in Software Development. One reason might be long supply chains that encourage hand-offs, another the fact that hardware is harder to change. Yet on the inside of these projects, workers put in heroic efforts, including circumventing the defined process and working iteratively.
